Game Modes
Matchmaking (Ranked)
Join our competitive matchmaking queue to find opponents near your skill level. Every game affects your ELO rating - win to climb the ranks, lose to drop down. The matchmaking system pairs you with players of similar ratings for fair and challenging matches.
Private Rooms (Casual)
Create a private room to play with friends. Share the room code and they can join directly. Private games don't affect your rating - perfect for practice or casual fun with friends.
Gameplay Instructions
Basic Rules
- The Grid: The game is played on a 3x3 grid with 9 squares
- Taking Turns: Players alternate turns placing their mark (X or O)
- Making a Move: Click any empty square to place your mark
- Winning: First player to get three marks in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) wins
- Draw: If all 9 squares are filled and no player has three in a row, the game is a draw
- Time Limit: You have 30 seconds per move in ranked games
Time Management
- Move Timer: Each player has 30 seconds to make their move in ranked games
- Time Running Out: If time expires, you automatically forfeit the game
- Visual Warning: The timer turns red when you have less than 10 seconds remaining
Rating System
TICACOE uses an ELO-based rating system to match players of similar skill levels and track competitive progress. Your rating changes after each ranked game based on the outcome and your opponent's rating.
Rating Tiers
How Rating Changes Work
- Win: Gain rating points (more if opponent has higher rating)
- Loss: Lose rating points (fewer if opponent has higher rating)
- Draw: Slight rating change based on opponent's rating
- New Players: Start at 1500 rating
